COVID-19 Update!

Dear UWG Family!

Many of you have reached out to us in recent weeks with questions concerning the United World Games 2021 and today we would like to give you an update on where we are presently standing with the event.

The UWG 2021 will take place! (June 24 – 27)

While we are aware of the difficult and uncertain current situation, we want to leave no stone unturned and are not giving up hope of holding the United World Games 2021 and providing our youth with a great start to the summer – as long as it is possible within the framework of the official regulations and justifiable in terms of health policy.
Thanks to our close cooperation with the local authorities we were able to develop different tournament concepts in order to be prepared for all eventualities. With all concepts the main focus is on a comprehensive safety and hygiene concept which, from today’s perspective, guarantees a smooth and uncomplicated tournament for all participants.

Due to the external circumstances, the Games can obviously not take place in their usual manner and scale, but we are very pleased to be able to offer the following sports with a scope of up to 2,000 participants in total:

  • Basketball
  • Beach Volleyball
  • Orienteering
  • Rugby
  • Soccer
  • Volleyball

All our friends from our other sports (Ice Hockey, Field Hockey, Floorball, Swimming, Softball, Tennis, Ultimate Frisbee), whom we will unfortunately not be able to welcome this year due to travel restrictions and/or other regulations, will of course be missed greatly, but at the same time we can already promise you a very special reception at UWG 2022 (June 16 – 19, 2022). We are very much looking forward to seeing you there!

Info on the event format we are targeting

We are aiming for a safe and scalable tournament concept with about 2,000 participants, in which all health regulations (distance etc.) can be respected.

Therefore the UWG 2021 will of course be a “special edition” and run differently from the events of previous years, but we have not abandoned our high standards of quality and service. As far as possible, we will create unforgettable moments for you again this year.

For your convenience: extension of the registration phase & cancellation free of charge!

The registration phase is already in full swing and due to the strictly limited starting places we already have to put teams on the waiting list in certain age categories – therefore we ask all interested teams to secure their spot quickly.

In order to stay as flexible as possible for you, we are extending the registration window until May 14. Needless to say, registered teams can of course also be cancelled free of charge until this date. If the situation on May 14 is such that we cannot guarantee you a smoothly run event, we will also inform you on this date about a potentially necessary cancellation.

We will keep you informed and are looking forward to welcoming you back in Klagenfurt this June.

Stay safe and stay healthy!

With sporty greetings

Your UWG Team
